Louisiana-born Hollywood Trucks is back for a sequel — and it has a plot twist

Andre Champagne, a Napoleonville native, founded Hollywood Trucks in 2007 in Baton Rouge to supply vehicles to the state’s then-growing film industry. He left the business temporarily in 2019 but now he’s back with a new version of the company, still headquartered in Louisiana while it makes a new fleet of entirely solar-powered trailers for a subsidiary of the global entertainment conglomerate NBCUniversal. The studio announced the six-year, exclusive deal in April. This month, Champagne’s company closed a $30 million fundraising led by Louisiana investors to provide growth capital and forays into other industries.

In an April Instagram post, Emmy-nominated actress Megan Stalter showed off her new high-tech and stylish trailer on the set of the hit HBO Max TV show “Hacks,” filmed on a studio lot in Los Angeles.
