Earlier this year, American Medical Response erroneously overbilled Ricky Rucker nearly $5,000 for a basic, 7-mile ambulance ride. The private ambulance service later slashed Rucker’s portion of the bill to $492 – but even later hiked it to $1,056. Meanwhile, Roanoke City Council has asked the Virginia General Assembly to address such outrages.
