Air Force veterans often get overlooked every Nov. 11, Veterans Day. Tom Kittler, a retired Air Force general from Northbrook, doesn’t complain. Instead, he does his part to help other veterans — and, more recently, to mentor a young astronaut.
Soldiers. Sailors. Marines. Each Nov. 11, when Veterans Day rolls around, crews of GIs, leathernecks and swabbies get trotted out and rightfully honored.
