The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday declined to hear an appeal of a decision that overturned a $20 million patent verdict against Google over the tech giant’s Nest smart thermostat technology.
The plaintiff, energy-management company EcoFactor, had argued that the decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit to upend the jury verdict after a rare full-court review was an “extraordinary example of appellate overreach.”
