Jersey Shore city will use $30M to build new police HQ after scrapping plans to buy former bank

Business owners feared increased police presence would change the atmosphere of the Shoppes at Asbury, prompting officials to abandon the $12 million bank building purchase.

After declining to purchase a former bank to house local law enforcement, Ocean City is expected to instead demolish its outdated police headquarters and construct a new facility for the department, officials said.
