Supermarkets such as Wegmans and ShopRite have been coy about where they use biometric devices like facial recognition technology, but they do use it.
Wegmans is using facial recognition software in a small number of stores in communities with elevated risk.
The technology is used to identify individuals who have been previously flagged for misconduct on store property.
