Hundreds of Chicagoans contributed campaign money in hotly contested mayoral election … in New York City?

The Nov. 4 general election between NYC mayoral candidates Zohran Mamdani, Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa drew national interest, including in Illinois, where more than 800 people contributed over $70,000 to candidate campaign funds. Mamdani won the race on a progressive platform that’s drawn comparisons to Mayor Brandon Johnson’s in Chicago.
